Important Update regarding COVID-19

Dear Members and Guests,

The Furman University Golf Club will reopen for modified play on May 1. The modified play will include multiple measures put in place to promote the health and safety of players and to minimize the risk of spread of COVID-19.

These measures comply with the governor of South Carolina’s Home or Work executive order and recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They are also in line with the National Golf Course Owners Association’s “Park and Play” program, which supports safe play while adhering to CDC guidelines.

The measures include the following, which you should know BEFORE you come play:
  • You must make tee times in advance. Walk-ins will not be permitted at this time. Pass Holders are still able to make tee times 14 days in advance; all other players will have 7 days in advance.  Please visit www.furmangolfclub.com or call 864-294-2690 to reserve your time.
  • If you are sick or have been in contact with someone who is, you MAY NOT visit the Furman University Course.
  • All players are encouraged to bring their own sanitizing wipes.
  • Traditions Grill will be open only for take-out orders; personal coolers are prohibited.
  • The clubhouse will be closed except for bathrooms; bathrooms will be cleaned frequently using CDC guidelines.
  • We are extending the usual period between tee times. They will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m., with 12 minutes between each tee time.
  • Single-rider carts will be used unless the players are from the same household; please follow directions at the clubhouse for cart use to maintain social distancing.  Carts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis depending on your tee time.
  • Rental Clubs and push cart rentals are prohibited at this time.
  • Check-in Procedures when arriving to the course:
  • Check-in will be located on the course side of the clubhouse.  All players need to check-in prior to play.  Social Distancing markers will be located on the ground for proper spacing.
  • Walking is encouraged.
  • The Club will not accept cash; pre-payment over the phone is encouraged.

Playing the Course:

  • Social Distancing is MANDATORY and is to be observed by all golfers.
  • Styrofoam “noodles” will be placed in the cups and around the flagsticks, which must remain in at all times; “gimmes” are encouraged.
  • Rakes, ball washers and water coolers will be removed from the course.

In Addition:

  • There will be no shotgun events or league play, including Purple and White.
  • Sanitizing of the clubhouse and on-course bathrooms will be done frequently using CDC guidelines.

All staff is to respect social distancing and customer interaction guidelines. Likewise, all guests must follow social distancing with respect to staff.

These procedures will be modified and adapted as the pandemic continues based on CDC guidelines and any executive order by the governor of South Carolina.

The Furman Golf Club provides an important social and recreational outlet, and we look forward to the return of play. We also realize that the COVID-19 pandemic is a serious global health threat, and we encourage all players to respect social distancing at all times.

We hope to see you soon.
