Jennifer Shillington - Golf Instructor

Jennifer Shillington is from Chatham, Ontario, Canada and began playing golf at the age of eight. As a junior and amateur player, Jennifer was ranked #1 in Ontario and #2 in Canada. She had the talent and skill to be successful on the LPGA Tour but found that her real passion centered on teaching. In 1994 she turned professional where she has amassed over 20 years of teaching experience. Some of her most significant accomplishments include currently Director of Instruction for Greenville Country Club, Director of Instruction for the Peninsula Club in Charlotte, NC, lead staff instructor for the distinguished Dana Radar Golf Academy, and the Director of Instruction for the nationally acclaimed Phil Ritson/Mel Sole Golf School for the last 15 years.

Jennifer continues to study the game as she has observed some of the most prominent golf instructors around the country including Mike McGetrik, David Leadbetter, Jim McClean and Annette Thompson to name a few. She continued to research all aspects of the game as she studied under Carey Mumford, who was recognized by Golf magazine as among the top dozen golf psychologists in the country in 1990. In 1992 Golf World devoted several pages to his book, The Double Connexion.

Jennifer works with each individual on their specific needs. She has a unique ability to quickly assess a player’s personal learning style and begins immediately to communicate and teach the student on their level. Her knowledge of the golf swing and her approachability makes her students feel comfortable. She can quickly identify a swing flaw and give a reasonable solution. She works with all skill levels: beginners, nationally ranked juniors, elite amateurs, and touring professionals. She has taught several LPGA players that have 2 victories and have accumulated over 37 top-10 finishes. Her students have also not only been in contention but have also won many junior and amateur events, including, AJGA events and USGA amateur and professional qualifiers.
