PREPARING FOR AN EARLY SPRING

It’s an exciting time of year as we begin to kick-off the 2016 golf season.  We have added quite a few golf clinics that may be of interest to you (after-school program, Get Golf Ready, Spring Break – Junior Camp, Short Game Clinic, and more!!) so please check out our website (http://www.furmangolfclub.com/instruction/programs-clinics) to see even more information about which one will help to improve your golfing skills.  A few examples below:

After School Program:

This program is for the junior golfer (10–14 years old) of any skill level. Juniors have the opportunity to meet every Monday and receive PGA instruction. The instruction will be in a group format and will focus on full-swing fundamentals and keeping the game fun. Bringing your own set of clubs is not required, but it is recommended. Take advantage of this convenient program and you and your junior golfer will see progressive results.

Furman’s Short Game School:

The fastest way to lower scores!

The best way to lower your score is to become more creative with your short game. Approach shots, chips, pitches and greens reading are some of the key components to this aspect of the game. This 3- hour short game school will assist you in developing your touch and technique around the greens.  You will understand which club to use in various situations as well as what type of shot is required. This school is recommended for all skill levels. Participants will be grouped by skill level. There will be a 12 person maximum in this school and a 2 person minimum. (Two instructors on hand for a small teacher/student ratio)

Program Features:

  • Putting and chipping sessions 
  • Proper set-up, stroke mechanics and reliable practice habit instruction 
  • Wedge sessions covering the setup positions for a variety of golf shots 
  • Club selection and distance control from 20 to 80 yards 
  • Learn to handle trouble shots and uneven lies 
  • Find out why sand shots are the easiest shots in golf 

Furman’s Game Tune-Up Series:

This program is designed for the golfer, male or female, wanting to understand more about scoring and to how improve their ball striking capabilities. This program will cover aspects of the full swing and short game while introducing the mental side of the game. Trouble shots will also be discussed during this series while we take you out on the course to help player’s bridge the gap from practice range to course play.  They will include 2 - 2hr sessions and will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6pm - 8pm for two consecutive weeks. There will be a 4 person minimum in this program with a maximum of 12.

“Open to All….. Furman’s Weekly Clinic” (Balls Included):

“Open” Golf Instruction at Furman….. Every Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:00pm will be an “open” clinic. Each session a topic will be discussed including but not limited to the full swing, short game, fundamentals, trouble shots, efficient practice and shot shaping.  Once we discuss the topic you will be able to hit balls and practice with the help of your professional to guide you through all the questions you may have. This “open” clinic will be an excellent way to practice and learn the game at the same time. Range balls and professional help are included in the cost. There is a minimum of 4 golfers each week to conduct this clinic/practice session with a maximum of 14.

“Spring Break” Junior Golf Camp: (Ages 7 thru 14):

This Junior Golf Camp will be held during Greenville, SC County schools Spring Break. The camp will run Monday through Thursday from 9 to 12pm at Furman Golf Club. This program will be held for the “tournament playing” junior golfer so that they feel comfortable on the course as well as understanding the importance of efficient range and practice time. This camp will enhance the mechanics of the junior golfer within the full-swing and short game as well as teaching them the importance of working themselves around the course.
